Kupang - West Timor - 11.10.2005
Selamat Pagi,
Hey my little freinds all over the world...
I've done it! We arrived just yesterday savely in Kupang harbour (harbour might be the wrong expression cause we have to row over to the land all the time... and now I probalby will check out this island for a couple of days befor going on to Flores with my old sailing crew... but you never know - I'm very spontanious so maybe I change my mind.
Here in Kupang it's very diffucult, not only to survive the traffic, but also to do just the basic communication to get something to drink or to eat cause nobody seem to know a single word in english! Anyway, there are different ways so I'll be alright!
take care everyone, no worries, I had a save trip!

"beautiful" Beach in Timor - I've never seen anyone swimming apart from me and Andrey...

Andrey and Me, happy in Kupang

yeah... that's Indonesia! you better watch out, espacially at night...

typical schoolkids in Asia (here inland Timor) - always "happy" to see some strange foreigners!!!

We got invited by the Timor King to stay with him and his family... Thanks Nopé!!!

Bali - Pandang Bai 19.10.2005
In my time in timor, Andrey and I went to explore the island a bit, drove to Soe (an important cultaral village), got invited by the king himself and stayed at his house with his family for the night. They made us wearing traditional clothing and so we endet up having a lot of fun with the hole family!
Back in kupang, a local girl called Ansi (she couldn't speak a single word in english) wanted to marry me so we decided to leave as soon as possible!
the mood on the boat got worse, so I decided to go off on sumbawa (another of these approx. 16.000 islands) and make my way alone to bali, where i arrived yesterday. It's really interresting how differnt every Island is and now especially because the main religion changed from Islam to Catholic and now to Hinduh and I haven't seen people wearing Osama Bin Laden T shirts so far anymore...
i wish you guys could see what I see right now to have a fair idea of what I'm talkinbg about!
ps.: the pc-keyboard changed aggain so I have to get used aggain to another layout. Don't blame me for mistakes, guys...!

Gili Trawangan 23.10.2005
Hey Everybody,
hopefully I succesfully udated my homepage with my latest australia pics... You can never know here on a small island close to Lombock where I'm hanging around at the moment!
After arriving in Bali I got a very old lonely planet for 10.000 Rupiah (1 Euro) and met my first forign people for days. Inspired by reading and the impressions some new friends gave me I decided to go to this very cilled out island.
And it was definetly worth it! Yesterday I have seen the best sunrise in my entire live... just behind a volcano on Lombock the miracle happend and even if I've made a few pictures I think I can never describe the view to anyone who hasn't seen it...
Anyway,
with me there are some really nice Austrian girls (4 nurses... :) and maRx from Berlin so that I don't have to eat my dinner which is only 50 Cents alone...

incredible isn't it... hope you enjoy it Patrick...

hohoho,,,
it's idul Fitri soon! The "Christmas" of Islam and everybody seems to look forward to celebrate and stop fasting. And I don't have to feel bad anymore when drinking and eating in public!
ok, afer spending a good time on Gili Trawangan I went back to the hindu island Bali where I had my first funny meeting with the local police...
corruption:
Corruption is when you are driving a small motorcicle through the worst and most crazy traffic you can possibly imagine. Than, expecting nothing bad and only happy that you survived so far, the police is stopping you! I strarted thinking for what, because there are obviously no rules at all but no, for tourists there are!
ok, while the locals get permanantly away with ignoring the traffic totally, me and maRx got stoped for being 10 cm to far in the intersection when it was red...
And the best thing, after having a chat for about 20 minutes, we got asked for a bit of money for a drink so that our frindly men in charge could forget about our naughty behaviour!
anyway, we showed only 11.000 Rupiah (about 1,10 Euro) and could leave without paying... they probably realised that the poor backpackers have less money than they do...
After spending a few more days in Kuta (the city with the bombs) with awsome surf, I made my way to Java, passed a few good sights, climbed a volcano and finaly reached the 9 million people capitol Jakarta.

Singapore 06.11.2005
I made my way from Jakarta in 28 hours to Batam (Sumatra), just south of Singapore where I finally arrived safely after spending my time with thousands and thousand of bugs on my bed in the cheapest class of the ferry... Anyway, apart from knowing that I will not save money on cheap ferry tickets aggain, I met great people on board. It's unbeleaveble how nice these indeonesians are...

my "roommates" on the boat...

a swastika next to Jimmy Hendrix and the Roling Stones (on the back)... for us unbeleavable, but in indonesia no problem! "it's just cool..."
